About Lisa G. Flournoy

EDUCATION

Lisa graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University with highest honors, earning degrees both in criminal justice and sociology.  Lisa received her law degree from South Texas College of Law, where she also graduated with honors.  During law school, Lisa was active in the trial advocacy program, receiving the Best Speaker Award for her skills in advocacy.

EXPERIENCE

Prior to opening her own law firm, Lisa was a federal prosecutor for ten years with the United States Attorney’s Office in the Eastern District of Texas.  Before joining the United States Attorney’s Office, Lisa was a state prosecutor at the Angelina County Attorney’s Office for three years.  As a prosecutor, Lisa has unique insight into the investigation and prosecution of criminal cases.  This experience allows her to provide a thorough and diligent evaluation of her clients’ cases and effectively defend their rights.

Following law school, Lisa was a briefing attorney and staff attorney to Justices Davie Wilson and Jackson B. Smith at the First Court of Appeals in Houston, Texas.  As a briefing and staff attorney, Lisa was directly involved in the research and writing of opinions rendered by the justices.  Lisa is a skilled writer, which is beneficial to her clients at all phases of the criminal process, from motions to appeals.

PERSONAL

Lisa has been married to Derek C. Flournoy, Angelina County Court at Law #2 Judge, for thirteen years.  They have two children.  They are both natives of Angelina County, where they are actively involved in the community.
